Blabbermouths & Slanderers within the church

I’m back! I wasn’t inspired to write anything else but the book I’m currently working on. Sometimes, we multitask and end up never finishing any of the tasks or doing any of them excellently. “Jack of all trades, master of none” is a real thing. Anyhoo, I’ve had a burden for the body of Christ lately. I’ve prayed about it because burdens are actually supposed to lead us to prayer more than they lead us to discussion. So, I prayed, and today I want us to talk about it. Blabbermouths & slanderers have infiltrated into the church.

I remember a couple of years ago, a man of God who was my then-pastor did a series on the spirits that rest on the tongue: the spirits of lying, slander, gossip, etcetera. It was so insightful. I wish it had been recorded; it would have at least given people insight into a couple of things. Social media has become heavily infested with influencers of darkness and believers who have an opinion on everything. They have given themselves to Christ but have handed over their tongues to the devil to use however he wants. There are things being said, there are words being used, that you read or listen to and feel such grief. The tongue will send many people to hell. Believe me, you.

You would think that such people are not among us as believers, but they are. They have titles and even have a reputation of being alive. They have convinced themselves that you can be a Christian on fire but with a contaminated tongue. So, you find them at prayerthons, but on their phones, they slander men of God. They are like Miriam and Aaron. They attend all services and even have callings upon their lives, but they have caused people to backslide on social media because of the comments they make.

They participate in useless debates that lead to anger and violence. They are in every conversation about slander against the church. You sit and wonder, how did we get here? How did we get to a point where we speak anyhow and don’t care? Was it not the first thing Isaiah saw about himself when he encountered the Lord? He says, “Alas, I am a man of unclean lips.” Right now, many people have unclean lips and have not been discerning enough to see it as a trap of the enemy. Instead, they say, “We must talk. I have an opinion. As for me, I must have a say!” But must you? Must you really have a say on everything?

You go from slandering men of God to gossiping about their wives, to twisting truths to make stories interesting, to spreading lies about fellow believers, to spreading bitterness. To what end, people of God? To what end? Why have we become such a demonic newspaper? The work we are now doing for the devil is too much, and I dare say it’s voluntary because you can choose to keep quiet. Why are all your phone calls about other people? Why not use your tongue to evangelise? Must you comment? Must you use those words in that comment section? Must you have an opinion that doesn’t even reflect the Christ we say we serve? What’s happening to the body of Christ?

It has been a heavy burden in my heart. How did we become so careless with our speech? When you read Scripture, you will see that God is not behind whatsoever is happening right now. One young man came out to speak against a man of God, and people would say, “Yes, let’s speak. We must hold them accountable.” I came to understand that you can only hold someone accountable to a standard you live by. Removing a speck on someone’s eye when you have a log in your own, is just foolishness.

Someone will be in their lover’s house, unmarried, after having fornicated all night, then go on social media and start talking against a man or woman of God who has also fallen into sin. The other person’s sin is secretive, so they feel holy typing anyhow. Do you know how many people have passed judgment on things they themselves are involved in? Do you know how many people have led people away from Christ and the church because they simply couldn’t keep quiet? Why is the church full of your gossip? Do we realise that it’s a spirit?

People of God, it may seem like it’s something small, but we are losing our grip as believers. We tear each other down in front of the world we plan to win to Christ. I’ve also seen that to change a community, you start by changing one person. That’s why I’m writing this here: to start with you. Stop it. Ask God to help you stop it. You are in too many talks. You have involved yourself in conversations that will end up putting you under a curse. You are busy talking about things that, like Miriam, you may end up with leprosy. Set a guard over your mouth.

Shall we continue tomorrow? All of us will obtain grace & find mercy.

If you read my blogs but have never met this  Wonderful Jesus that I’m always writing about,  you’d love to get to know Him, Or you know The Lord but have found yourself drifting far from Him, I would love to talk with you.
