Dreams & Interpretations

Happy new week, my Yielded People. I pray we are all doing okay. Last week, we discussed Jacob’s dream that led him to abundance. We also discussed forgetting dreams, and I’d like to urge each and every one of us to learn to diarise our dreams. Pray to remember your dreams.

Dreams are a very important part of our lives, and we see this throughout Scripture. Because of this, God has a way He wants us to deal with dreams. We cannot, therefore, handle dreams carelessly, as we have seen that they are part of God’s communication with us. Take Jacob, for example.

Jacob had this dream where God showed him what to do! This means that dreams can be a directive from God. It is important, though, to note that not all dreams come from God. We have to examine our dreams through the lens of God’s character. A sexual dream is not from God. Why? Because God is holy and will never encourage us to embrace sin or lust. You see now? This means you have to know your God to be able to discern where your dream came from.

Dreams can show us direction. Jacob saw what he was supposed to do and did it. Imagine that! Some of us, God has done all He can to get our attention, but we are still looking for 5,799 confirmations. You have asked 168 friends, and they also cannot hear God clearly. Now you are stuck in disobedience when God has been telling you to do this and that. Start this business. Go this way. But you stand still when it is time to move. How many times has God shown you what to do, and you knew you had to do it, but you conferred with flesh and blood until the fire and zeal to do it died? Now, five years later, you are praying about it again, and you are frustrated. Dreams can give direction.

From Jacob’s encounter, we see that dreams can be used to help us. Jacob needed help. He needed supernatural help. There is no way he would have been able to build wealth the way he did had God not helped him. God sees our needs, people of God. He sees exactly where we lack, and He will find a way to get those things to us. He will help you see where your potential is. He will help you find the solution. He will help you by giving you the solution. God sent Jacob help through a dream.

Some people have been told to pack up and go to a particular place through a dream, and God helped them move to the right place. God wants to help us, Yielded People. He has shown us through this encounter that He desires to help us. In that business, in building that ministry, in getting married, in multiplying your resources, God can use dreams to help us. Egypt, too, was helped to preserve food through a dream God gave Pharaoh and the interpretation He gave to His servant Joseph.

We also see that dreams are an advantage for us. God doesn’t have to come down; He can send you a dream and tell you, ā€œPut these sticks of this tree in water and do ABC.ā€ It is an advantage because it may not be in the books. We cannot depend completely on books and education, although those are good. We cannot depend only on experience, either. I have had situations where even my own brain could not produce an answer. There are dreams I had long ago, which I diarised, that I see playing out right now as I type this.

Dreams can give you an advantage over competitors at work, over enemies, and over all those who are up against you. I also have to say that everyone dreams, believers and unbelievers alike. Yep! Nebuchadnezzar had a dream, and so did Pharaoh. Dreams are experienced by people from all walks of life, but what sets the people of God apart is that we have access to Him, the One who gives understanding and interpretation. If you study closely, you will see that the people who interpreted these dreams were men of God, while others struggled to understand them.

Do you see why Google should not be your go-to place for interpretation? Do you see why even ChatGPT should not be your first place to interpret what should be sought from the Spirit of God? I will tell you why! There is no one-size-fits-all interpretation for dreams. For example, people say that if you dream of a snake, it means the devil. But in the Bible, there was a bronze serpent that the people looked upon and lived (Numbers 21:8–9). If you had dreamt of the skinny cows Pharaoh saw, you might have concluded that it meant sickness or something else, as many dream books might suggest. Yet the dream meant something entirely different.

Jacob’s dream could easily have been dismissed as almost useless if we were to interpret it using some of today’s dream books. Don’t get me wrong, I am not against dream books; I am against fixating on one interpretation for everything. Saying blue means this and this, or a particular animal means that, as though God operates according to a fixed dictionary. Even Scripture requires us to study and understand context. Find out what it means for you! What does it mean in YOUR LIFE?

I used to love dream books because I dream a lot. I would read them and conclude that a particular dream meant this or that, until I started realising, ā€œNah, man! It meant something different.ā€ So, I cannot base what I believe to be the present voice of God on an interpretation someone had years ago when they wrote a book. What would your interpretation of Jacob’s dream have been? Think about it. Would you have considered it significant enough to get up and act on it? I doubt it. Yet, when you dream of a cat, that is when you rush to Google because there’s a conditioning in your mind that associates cats with witches, I said ASK GOD what it means FOR YOU!

I believe men and women of God need to teach extensively on these matters because we are all dreaming, and we need guidance on what to do with those dreams. Otherwise, we will have people thinking so-and-so is their spouse because of a dream, when perhaps God was simply prompting them to pray for that person, or the dream was a reflection of their deep feelings for that individual.

Okay, this topic go loooooong! Let me rest my fingers so we can continue tomorrow. I’m tired, lol! I hope that, so far, I have been helping you. I hope you are getting the hang of where I am headed with this topic because, wow, I don tire for una hand because of dreams! šŸ˜‚ā¤ļø
