Special Edition Thursday with Ms Lilly Nashe

Kudiwanashe Lilian Mutambirwa, also known as Lilly Nashe, is a born-again believer who has dedicated her life to spreading the message of God’s love and transformation. A marketing manager by profession, she is also a Christian influencer and motivational speaker. Her ministry focuses on empowering the youth, young adults, and women.

With over seven years of experience as a motivational speaker, Lilian has had the privilege of addressing diverse audiences at schools, corporate events, churches, and children’s camps, where she serves as a camp counsellor .
Her messages are anchored under the belief of Romans 12:2, that after an encounter of Jesus Christ, true transformation begins with a renewed mind. Lilian’s future aspiration is to become an author, with a focus on books that explore Christian life and marriage. Her proposed works aim to navigate themes relevant to believers, such as single life, waiting on God’s promises, and standing firm in faith, as encouraged in Jude 1:3. Through her endeavors, she shares her personal testimony—a story of transformation through God’s love. This experience has become the cornerstone of her purpose: to introduce people to the love of God and her urgent message about the soon-coming King.

• What is a fun factor about you that most people don’t know?
🩷 A fun fact about me is that

I love to bake, primarily because I have a sweet tooth and find baking therapeutic

I get a massive dose of dopamine just seeing a cake or savoury treat come out perfectly.

You are stuck in a place with 3 people, who would you rather be stuck with?
🩷 I would love to say my husband, my husband and my husband, but since he’s not here yet, I’ll list three amazing women: my sister Star and my two best friends, Thato and Njabulo. I think we’d have a very bearable experience. Star and Thato would cook for us, with Njabulo leading us in prayer, and I would be there for the vibes.

Would you rather swim or ride a horse?
🩷 RIDE A HORSE! Another bonus fact about me is that I love horses, I almost did professional horse riding two years ago.

Create a short poem titled “The day l got saved.”
🩷 The day I got saved…

I was in the middle of a forest, surrounded by young voices crying, singing, and praising. I heard the call, “If you want to give your life to Christ, raise your hand and invite Him in,” and so my hand was raised. With a face full of tears, a running nose, and a racing heart, I invited Him in. Moments later, I was led to a riverbed; there I publicly professed my faith as a bold 12-year-old girl. I was at peace. But years later, things changed. No, I changed. No longer was I a child; I now reasoned differently. The reality of life and its struggles, passions, and desires roared loudly. My home was no longer the same; pain, blood, and anger were frequent visitors. But I tried to soldier on until I couldn’t. The joy of the world enticed me, and with no one to report back to, I answered that call. For twelve months, I found a lodging place in the heart of my desires. Never truly feeling convicted, because I’m not that bad, right? It’s just one occasional drink, accompanied by an occasional puff of flavoured air, as I lay in the arms of a lover I knew my God did not know. The only thing I couldn’t do was ignore the reality of my consequences, the wages of sin and my guaranteed destination. And so there I was, again. With a face full of tears, nose running, and a heart racing, this time alone in my room on a random afternoon. I wept because no longer did I know what peace felt like; I hadn’t felt conviction in months, so I wept, “Help me, please Lord, help me,” and He answered me…

The day I got saved, I was so broken; my heart was heavy, and my life had no direction. According to the flesh, I had no reason to leave the world, but God knew my destiny—the calling over my life was greater than any pleasure this world could offer. The day I gave my life to Christ, the love a good man gave me was no longer good, because how can something good lead you to a guaranteed death? The day I gave my life to God, I encountered Love, true love. A love so real it died on the cross for everything I had done; a blood so powerful it broke every stronghold the enemy had over my family; a Love so kind it removed every feeling of condemnation within me. God’s love changed my life and rewrote my story. The day I got saved, all of heaven rejoiced, and now I rejoice daily, because Love changed my life the day I got saved.

Tell us a bit about your background and how you began ministry?
🩷 I grew up in a Christian home. My father was an elder at church, my mum was a Sunday school teacher, and when my sister got older, she also became a Sunday school teacher. I grew up surrounded by love and always had deep gratitude for my community, teachers at school and church, youth leaders, and friends. My father was the first to recognize the gift in me, and my parents encouraged me to pursue public speaking by trying classes like Toastmasters and general high school groups. At age 12, I gave my life to Christ at a youth camp. At age 17, I remember the Holy Spirit prompting me to share a message with my peers. Before I even knew what that message was, I spoke to my principal, and she said she’d consider my request. One Friday afternoon, she called me into her office, saying their motivational speaker for the grade 11s had canceled and asked if I was still interested in sharing a word. With much excitement and humility, I agreed. That Monday morning, with all the grade 11s gathered in the auditorium, I shared a word on forgiveness, and truly the rest was history. My principal would call on me to speak at parents’ evenings, different schools, and children’s homes. I began volunteer work as a camp counselor for children’s camps, leading their praise and worship. My journey into ministry felt very natural. I read many stories, even in the Bible, of people who didn’t initially want to preach, but honestly, I was happy from the beginning. I now think this is because of my purpose: I am called to introduce God’s love to people. God’s love changed my life. His word now molds and purifies me daily. His love transforms me, and with that knowledge, I share His word and my testimonies, knowing that it is Christ who now speaks through me. His love and Spirit are at work in the hearts of those receiving this message that the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.

• Who are the spiritual mentors or voices that have influenced you most?
🩷 My dad is definitely the first. I thank God for growing up in a home where Bible study was frequent, and attending church was not optional. My dad’s gift of wisdom in how he reads and understands God’s word inspired me. He raised us to be bold and audacious young women who challenge what challenges our beliefs of truth. He held me and still holds me accountable. Second would be my youth leader, Brother Mashudu Mbedzi, an apostle at heart. It was under his leadership that I gave my life to God. He has a deep love for the youth, and his core mandate is to cultivate environments for young people to experience Jesus. Over the years, he has been the person I call with every idea, new venture, challenge, and future aspiration. Lastly, my mother has had a profound influence on my life, grounded in prayer. Her prophetic view of the gospel is one I have embraced from an early age. Her love and guidance have molded me into the confident young lady I am today.

As a young woman in ministry, what challenges have you faced and how have you overcome them?
🩷 Respect. I am a black, single woman, and each of these aspects presents its own challenges. I thank God my father set the tone from a very young age that we should carry ourselves boldly and demand respect or simply walk away. I have encountered men who believe all women should submit to them as unto the Lord, but fortunately for me, that principle only applies to my husband. Therefore, I choose to love and respect men and women as the siblings we are, and nothing more. Submission plays a significant role in my life. I grew up with traditional parents under biblical doctrine, so I understand my place as a daughter, sister, friend, student, and servant under greater authority. Yes, I have faced many encounters where being a young, single black woman caused me to feel disrespected. However, I am not without help; God fights every battle for me. As 2 Timothy 1:7 says, I do not have a spirit of fear but one of power, love, and a sound mind. Every challenge faced is dealt with by the power within.

• How do you handle moments of burnout or discouragement?
🩷 l face these challenges often, but in those moments, I ask for help. I am not without help. I remind myself of this as a declaration when I feel alone, stuck, and demotivated. I call my friends and ask for prayer, then I pray. There have been many times when I wasn’t in the mood to go anywhere or be around anyone, but in those moments, I remember Jeremiah 33:3 and ask God to answer my cry and give me what I need to make it through. Sometimes I remind myself that being a slave may take away my comfort, so whether or not I’m discouraged, if God has called me to it, I have to see it through despite how my flesh feels. It’s not to say it’s easy, but that’s the reality of serving God, who is also Lord over my life. So yes, a bit of tough love and prayer always does the trick.

• What message do you hope young people take away from your ministry and content?
🩷 From my content, I hope people are freed from the shackles of pleasing anyone other than God. It’s okay to have a personality and love God, it’s okay to be happy, and it’s okay to enjoy this beautiful world God created. I can only hope and pray that through the ministry God calls me to, people see the tangible love of God at work in my life and testimonies and experience it for themselves. I also hope people laugh because even He who sits in heaven laughs.

How do you stay spiritually grounded while navigating the demands of ministry and social media?
🩷 Discipline and discipleship. Ensuring that the life I present online is a true reflection of what happens offscreen. Being in God’s presence every day through prayer, Bible reading, cell groups, and any other way I can. It’s so easy to burn out, but it’s easier to keep the lamp burning when you do the work to maintain the oil for the lamp.

• Which woman in the Bible do you most identify with, and why?
🩷 The answer to this question changes for me due to the different seasons of my life, but for now, I would confidently say Deborah. I see the grace for counselling that she had within my own life, as well as my deep love for worship and song.

List 3 gospel songs that you totally love!!
🩷 7 Hills worship – Found a love. Joyous choir x Shingisai Suluma Tidzidzisei kunamata. Phil Thompson x Victor Thompson Jesus, Lamb of God.

• Have you always known you were/are
funny or did you discover it through people?

🩷 l think I’ve known from birth. I’ve always had a goofy personality, with my parents reminding me of all the silly jokes and pranks I would play on them. Later, during my school years, my love for laughter and not taking myself too seriously shone through because of the amazing friends I had.

What’s one Bible character you think would make a great comedian?
🩷 Peter. I just imagine he had a witty sense of humor that isn’t intentional. He appears to be impulsive, much like I am, so I understand that with this personality trait, we’re quick to speak first and think later.

• If you weren’t doing ministry or comedy, what would you be doing?
🩷 Theatre for sure! I love acting, both on screen and on stage. I did theatre in high school, and I loved it. Being on stage, speaking loudly, and singing in between are my favorite things to do. It’s a dream I won’t let go of.

• What inspires your skits and comedic content?
🩷 I usually find funny sounds and think about how I want to act them out. Other times, it’s pure impulse; I act first and process later.

• Who are some international and local
creators you’d love to collaborate with?

🩷 Internationally, Megan Ashley is at the top of my list. Jackie Hill Perry and Pastor Stephanie Ike Okafor are also notable, and I would have loved to work with Dr. Myles Munroe. Locally, Oboitshepo Tladi  (my mum, sister, and I are major beneficiaries of her ministry; we have enough testimonies to write a book). Casper Nyovest has been on my heart for many months now, and I would be honored to have a podcast interview with him. There are many others, but I thank God that last year I had the honour of doing Instagram Lives with most of the people I once aspired to work with.

• Do you have a role model? How do they inspire you?

l don’t have a role model other than Jesus.

The life of Christ is my reference point for everything I face. I admire many people and find their lives beautiful, but my only true role model has always been Jesus Christ.

• What do you think is very important for Christian Content Creators to know?
🩷 Social media is a part of a ministry platform, so we’re accountable for what we share, say, engage in, and do in the public eye. People are always watching. That’s not to say we should be fake or put on a persona and only engage in spiritual content, but being yourself allows people to see the light of God at work in you. I love what the Christian community is today; we’re not perfect, but we love God and each other. It melts my heart to see how close most of us really are because the love we share will inevitably be seen by others, and their curiosity about that light will lead them to the cross.

• Would you do a soccer or a painting competition?
🩷 Soccer. I love sports, I love being active so I would much rather do something physical.  I’m not good at soccer—I don’t even think I know how to kick straight—I’m a netball girl, but I love participating.

• What is your home language?
🩷 Shona. I am Shona, with Ndebele heritage.

Complete this sentence, “If you could see through my tummy, you’d probably find…
🩷  If you could see through my tummy you’d probably find  rivers of living water! Just kidding, if you could see through my tummy you’d probably find it empty because I’m always hungry.

• What piece of advice would you like to leave with our readers today?
🩷 God loves you; He never stopped loving you. I went through a season where I almost forgot that truth. Pain tried to push me away from God, but because of His love, He rescued me again and held me in His warm embrace. It’s okay to hurt as long as you remain in Him. Cry in His arms. God’s love brings so much joy. Regardless of what we seek to gain from God, the greatest gift will always be Him—just Jesus. We are not without help; we have a Comforter, Healer, Father, Lord, and Friend. How exciting is it that the King of Kings, there before the beginning of time, would love us so much that He died to save us? What manner of love is it that the Lord of Lords knows your name and solely wants you—your yes, your heart, and your life? Just you and the Savior for all eternity

You’re stuck on a mountain & can only carry 3 things, what would they be?
💜 A backpack with all my essentials (lipgloss, wet wipes, sunshades, water bottle WITH WATER). , My phone, My power bank..
I’m probably never going to get stuck on a mountain, I have no business being there 😂 unless it’s the mountain of the Lord 😝

• Are you an introvert or extrovert?
💜 Most times an extrovert, sometimes an introvert. It depends on the place and atmosphere.

• Would you rather do a marathon or skii?
💜 Definitely run a marathon. Imagine getting injured on ice; it’s cold and your body hurts, two pains in one? I cannot.

• Which woman in the Bible do you most identify with, and why?
💜 I identify the most with Mary (The mother of Jesus). She must have been a really special girl for God to consider her as a candidate to incubate and birth Redemption. I resonate with her. She’s a girl God saw fit to do the unlikely, the girl who was misunderstood, yet possessed adequate strength to endure persecution and judgement. The girl who was tenacious and resilient. I love Mary. She believed God, and the things He said to her happened (Luke 1:45). I know what that looks like, I’ve experienced it. Additionally, Mary had good understanding and a big heart. She understood that what she was birthing was not for her, but for the world. I know how that feels like – navigating being blessed by God, not for yourself, but for the benefit of others. Mary faced the difficult challenge of detaching herself from what only God could give her – she could’ve chosen to brag about the wonder performed through her, she could’ve esteemed herself high above others, but she was a woman clothed with humility and a quiet spirit, a woman willing to yield to God, even at the expense of “her” integrity no matter what. Her journey encapsulates a true definition of a woman who is a POWERHOUSE.

• List 3 gospel musicians that you totally love!!
💜 Minister Dunsin Oyekan, Pastor Lawrence Oyor and Ntokozo Mambo (the list is more than 3 but I will pick these 3 to answer the question)

• If you could have coffee with any woman, who would it be and why?
💜 Apostle Isi Igenegba. I absolutely adore that woman and I love her mind. She is so brilliant and every time I listen to her, I receive new insights. I believe I draw so much from her well of wisdom that I could use in various facets of my life.

• Tell us a bit about your background and how you began ministry?
💜 My gifts /talents ushered me into ministry. I was a very hyper kid, and in school I did almost EVERYTHING (singing, dancing, drama, public speaking and sports). I even played the violin at some point. I auditioned to participate in a TV program at church and you guessed it, I was shortlisted. I was in the 6th grade when I became a TV presenter for a kiddies show at my then local church’s TV station – LoveWorldSat. By the time I was in 8th grade, my family moved to another church, where I began serving in the worship team, I didn’t consider myself a good singer then, but my mom was the one that told the pastor I could sing, and she immediately put in the worship team lol. That was the beginning of a journey of growth in Christ and self discovery. I did not only sing in the church but the pastor would have me share the word, do opening prayers, take offering, and I would read the word for her during her teachings. That forced me to study the word, and I become more curious to know God for myself. I would ask God things like: “God please show me angels” or say stuff like “ God, show me something only You can show me” – I would see things before they happen or perceive things about people and pray about them. God always came through, obviously according to my level of understanding and capacity then. By the time I was wrapping up high school, I was singing at crusades run by the woman of God – some of them were 14 days long. I would go to school then, afterschool, head straight to the location to lead worship. Those required capacity and power; she would have us praying and fasting all the time, that’s how discipline was developed. It was a lot, but every moment so fulfilling. Ultimately, I grew to really, really love with God and I knew I wanted to live for Him and continue to serve with the gifts He gave me. That’s how I became “Jesus’ errand girl” as I say.

Who are the spiritual mentors or voices that have influenced you most?
💜 It is mostly the men and women of God I have served under for a long period, who raised me and influenced me the most. And of course, the wonderful men of God that I’ve had the opportunity to be mentored and taught by; Apostle Doreen Hlongwane, Pastor Anthony Ejikeme, Pastor Jerry Eze, Apostle Felix Okoh (not sure if you wanted names😩🤭)

• As a young woman in ministry, what challenges have you faced and how have you overcome them?
💜 One of the challenges I would say I’ve faced is navigating being in the forefront, being a role model for some people versus just simply being me. Ministry requires a certain level of maturity, and it took a while for me to get to grips with that – at some point in my life, I wanted to enjoy my personality and express my vibrant disposition, and do things that people my age were doing. However, over the years I’ve gotten to understand that a journey with God is not about fulfilling personal pleasures, but is about fulfilling his will (which, will most likely require you to not conform to the standard of this world). And to overcome the temptation of trying to live like everyone else, I’ve had to firstly understand who I am in Christ, associate with a tribe that is like-minded and resist the urge to please people.

• What are some disciplines or habits that help you stay spiritually strong?
💜 Word study, prayer, fasting and fellowship are non negotiable. In order to stay spiritually strong I treat these like breathing (if I don’t breathe, I’ll die). My spiritual body needs them to stay alive and strong. Coupled with that, I maintain the consecrations the Lord has set in place for me. It’s not always easy or convenient, but I have to do it as it sustain my virtues.

• What message do you hope Christian’s should hear right now?
💜 “New Wine Skin” by Apostle Joshua Selman and the whole of Excel Conference 2025.

How do you stay spiritually grounded while navigating the demands of ministry and building your dreams?
💜 The demands of ministry and the building of my dreams, stem from my spiritual groundedness. Without my relationship with God, I wouldn’t have all these dreams and visions. Without my relationship with God, they would probably be no opportunity for ministerial works. Whenever I sense that I am holding the work in high regard, I remind myself that “one thing is needful” (Luke 10:42). That’s how I remain grounded, I remember that I am nothing without Jesus and therefore I need Him, every single moment.

• At what moment did you feel called to launch Sinothando Global Impact, and what inspired its birth?
💜 Sinothando Global Impact was birthed in 2019, then it had a different name. It was birthed as a result of, I would say, concern and compassion. Social issues such as gender based violence and unemployment in South Africa stressed me out and I wanted to find a way to be an agent of change in my sphere of influence. Seeing and hearing stories of young women losing their lives, provoked in me a desire to teach them about self worth and the importance of building so much value as to lead a life of independence and self-sufficiency. That lead to me starting a website – where I would post encouraging words for young women weekly and within a year, it had about 25 000 views worldwide. I also began a podcast (which will be back soon) where I spoke about the importance of being well-rounded (having a relationship with God, educated, hard-working, generating your own money, etc) as a a young woman.

• How do you see God using this movement in the next few years?
💜 I know that many lives will be positively impacted because I have seen it before. One thing God has taught me is that nothing fails when I partner with Him. I believe Sinothando Global Impact will be a clear expression of its name – Indeed, this organization will make impact globally. I envision building a global network of women who pour into each other and support each other’s various initiatives. I envision building schools, orphanages, community centers, running companies that provide high quality services and products. God will surely use this movement to not only exalt Himself, but prove to His daughters and the rest of the world that He is intentional about their success and advancement – and I am more than happy to be His hands and feet.

• What projects are you currently doing or planning to do?
💜 Sinothando Global Impact is currently working on an educational program to develop the skills in women so they achieve self sufficiency. We are also hosting our very first seminar this month – with 3 dynamic speakers who are change agents in their communities.

You are invited to this free event hosted by Ms Sibusisiwe. All the details are on the poster however, should you have any questions, do reach out to her on the Instagram profile provided on the poster .

Who are some international and local community influencers you’d love to collaborate with?
💜 It would be Jacky Hill Perry. There is some peculiarity about her, and I seem to be drawn to people that are special😂🤭 There are two guys that are so wise, and they seem to stand out to me: Eric Gugua and Wesley Adi. I absolutely love them. And Mpoomy Ledwaba, I’ve followed her for a long time now, she’s done impeccable work. I foresee myself doing something with her involved in the future.

Do you have a role model? And how do they inspire you?
💜 I have a mentor and I absolutely love her. She models, grace, peace, love, intelligence, honour, discipline, creativity – she is a well-rounded woman. I once had a role model, but I found out she practices sorcery – I UNROLE MODELLED HER! For now, the mama mentoring me is my role model. But Jesus is the ultimate role model!

What do you think is very important for young people with big dreams like you should know?
💜 Big dreams are only fulfilled by a big God! You have to partner with the God that gave you those dreams, work hard, be consistent, and like Steve Jobs says “ stay hungry, stay foolish”. That doesn’t mean be a foolish person – it means be relentless in your willingness to grow and don’t be afraid to be seen doing your best.

• Create a short poem titled “Woman look in the mirror”

• What would you say to a young woman who feels called to start something but feels unqualified?
💜 God usually calls the unqualified and qualifies them. If you believe that specific thing is a call, then be rest assured a response is expected from the heavens. Go! Go with the strength you have!

• What is your home language?
💜 IsiZulu. I know you asked me that because you hardly hear me speak my home language🤣

• Complete this sentence, “If you caught me by surprise you’d find me…”
💜 Having a conversation with Holy Spirit (I am always talking to Him).

What piece of advise would you like to leave with our readers today?
💜 Firstly, be born again. Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior – that’s your ticket to a wholesome life AND ETERNAL LIFE. Secondly, embrace your uniqueness and authenticity, that’s one of my hacks for a joyful life. It helps you live from a point of understanding your own personal journey and breeds willingness to walk it faithfully. Lastly, live! Live fully! Laugh loudly! Love generously!

Special Edition Thursday with Iyo Prosper

Iyo Prosper

So, we had the absolute privilege of interviewing Iyo, one of the greatest skit makers on the planet! And I’m not exaggerating his creativity is unmatched. But here’s the best part: beyond the talent, he’s genuinely one of the kindest, most welcoming people ever. No drama, no stress just pure humility and warmth.! From the moment I reached out, it was effortless. No hoops to jump through. No complicated stuff .. You know people who don’t make life difficult? Exactly!

If you’re not following him yet… honestly, what are you doing? You’re about to experience some of the most incredible, biblical skits ever.

Wait , don’t rush now. He got nominated for the AMVCA’s so GO VOTE FIRST! Yes, now! Then come back. We’ll wait .. Click the link below ..

Okay , you’re back? GREAT! Let’s get into the interview!

  • What’s the most ridiculous thing you’ve ever believed as a child?
💚 I used to believe that if I swallowed a seed, a tree would grow inside my stomach. It made eating fruits a very stressful experience!

  • If you had to eat only one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
💚 Probably jollof rice with grilled meat and plantain. Classic, delicious, and never gets old.

  • If you could instantly master any skill, what would it be?
💚 Cyber security & Video editing at a cinematic level. It would make my content even more engaging.

  • Who is Iyo beyond the skits?
💚 Iyo is just a young man trying to get by really,  I’m also an introvert who somehow thrives in social spaces.

  • What inspired you to start creating skits?
💚 I’ve always loved storytelling, and I noticed that people connect more with lessons when they’re presented in an engaging, relatable way. Using comedy to retell Bible stories from a modern perspective felt like the perfect way to do that.

  • How did you come up with your unique style of comedy?
💚 My approach blends Nigerian culture with biblical narratives, making them feel fresh and relatable. The diary-style confessions and character interviews add a unique touch, allowing audiences to hear the characters’ perspectives in a modern context.

  • Walk us through your creative process—how do you develop ideas for your skits?
💚 I start by reading a Bible story or observing something in everyday life that sparks an idea. I then think of how a Nigerian would react in that situation. Once the concept is set, I draft the dialogue, plan the shots, and get into character.

  • Do you ever experience creative blocks? How do you overcome them?
💚 Yes, definitely! When that happens, I take a break, watch other creative content for inspiration, or revisit Bible stories with fresh eyes. Sometimes, talking with friends or taking a walk helps new ideas flow.

  • Which of your skits is your personal favourite, and why?
💚 Probably the Nativity story/musical I did last Christmas..I’ve always wanted to infuse my musical side in my skit, and the fact that I got to do that with the  nativity story makes it my favourite !!!

  • What has been the biggest challenge on your content creation journey?
💚 Trying to balance my personal life with my social media life. I have social anxiety, and the fact that I have to talk to a lot of random people on the road scares me sometimes.

  • How do you handle negative comments or criticism on your social media platforms?
💚 I filter through them. If it’s constructive, I take it as feedback. If it’s just hate, I ignore it. Not everyone will get the vision, and that’s okay.

  • When did you get saved?
💚 I’ve always known God, but my faith became truly personal and intentional in my teenage years.

  • We see that you can siiiiing, is it something you would pursue as a career?
💚 I enjoy singing, but for now, it’s more of a personal and worship-driven expression than a career pursuit.

  • What’s one piece of advice you’d like to give to someone looking to deepen their faith?
💚 Take it one day at a time. Spend time in the Word, stay in a community that uplifts you, and be intentional about your relationship with God.

  • What’s the funniest behind-the-scenes moment you’ve had while filming?
    💚

There was a time I set up everything to shoot, only to realise later that I forgot to press record. Happens EVERYTIME !

( I’d scream for 27 hours!)

  • If you could collaborate with any Christian content creator, who would it be?
💚 Probably someone like Arielfitz —her humor and storytelling style are top-notch.

  • If your life were a movie, what would the title be?
  • What’s one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
💚 I’m actually very quiet in person—until you get to know me!

  • Sunrise or sunsets?
💚 Sunsets. They feel peaceful and reflective.

  • Dancing or singing?
💚 Singing. My dancing is strictly for comic relief.

  • Would we find you at the beach or climbing mountains?
💚The Beach. I enjoy the calmness of the waves.

  • How long does it take you to shoot one skit?
💚 Shooting can take 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the complexity. Editing takes much longer—sometimes a few hours or even a day!

  • What advice would you give to someone who wants to start making skits but feels unsure?
💚 Just start. You’ll improve as you go. Don’t overthink it—consistency is key.

  • Would you ever consider creating movies or acting in movies?
💚 Yes, I’d love to! It would be a great way to expand storytelling beyond short skits.

  • What platforms is your content on?
💚 Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube and X

  • Create a short poem titled ‘The Day It Finally Stopped Raining.’

Special Edition Thursday with Duza

Jerry Duza Dauda

Jerry and I got into a deep (and slightly dramatic) conversation about food, and I came to a life-changing realisation that I can never, under any circumstances, eat okra with any meat, even if you fry it with olive oil and say it’s anointed. Nope, not happening. Meanwhile, Jerry was hyping his favourite Nigerian dish: pounded yam (which, to me, looks like pap), paired with okra soup and egusi. Have any of you ever tried this combo?

Oh, and in true Nigerian fashion, he boldly declared that Nigerian jollof is superior to Ghanaian jollof, so if you’re Ghanaian, please slide into his DMs and settle this once and for all, whoever wins must make the jollof for the entire Yielded Community all over the world. LOL! Now, let’s get into today’s Special Edition Thursday Interview with none other than Jerry, aka Duza! Let’s go!

  • Where are you from?
▪️I’m from Northern Nigeria, from a minority tribe called the Gbagyi.

  • What’s the story behind the name J.Clone?
▪️ Well, I was, I was looking to project my music as a sold out Gospel Artist and so, that was where the name J.Clone came from. It was supposed to be J.Clone for Jesus clone and with the idea that we are meant to replicate Jesus wherever we go. So J.Clone came from that, and then with time, I felt restricted because I was going about doing my normal ministrations here and there as a hip hop artist, but I had a kind of push back from church, because they didn’t really get my vision when It came to my sound and my style. I was bringing a new sound to the hip hop community, and they felt that this doesn’t belong to the church. But then I decided, after a while, to really do what I feel God has called me to do, and part of that is to be able to reach a wider audience, cutting across the church, and then not allowing myself to be fit into a box. So I adopted my, my tribal name Duza. I just decided to use that as my artist name, and l have been building that. I mean, I don’t know how to put it, but yes, I’m a church boy. So that’s the history about the name. Btw, Duza means God is great!

  • If your life were a movie, what would the title be?
▪️Misfit. I see myself as someone who doesn’t really fit in. My story has always been that of people just trying to figure out who this person is. I’m not able to fit into their idea of whom a rapper should be. See you always have a picture when you talk about rappers or hip hop artists right? What comes to people’s minds is someone who smokes, drinks, who has tattoos, someone who maybe has dreads, you understand. So I’m not a picture of the “classic” Hip Hop guy. What makes me stand out the gift that God has given me and that is what has separated me from the rest. I’m so conscious of the call on my life, I don’t fit into the definitions people have about the hip hop artists.

  • What’s something people assume about you that is not true?
▪️ People think l am too strong.. Because I do a lot of work for people. I am the backstage person, I love to work behind the scenes. So people think I’m strong. I carry their burdens. They think I’m able to take a lot. But there’s actually a part of me that is a little emotional . Maybe I don’t do too well to project that, but I’m not always confident. I’m not always as strong as they see me. So I just feel like that’s the misconception . I think that’s just one thing I want to put out there. I’m not all strong always. It is really just the grace of God that helps me.

  • If you were to describe yourself using 3 emojis, what would they be?
    ▪️ 😎❤️😇
  • How would you describe your style in 3 words?
▪️ I would say Creative , Real Life and Relevant.

  • Where do you draw your inspiration from?
▪️ I draw inspiration from my experiences. Basically, I love to tell stories. I use these experiences to teach through my music. My goal is to help someone, to also inspire them through my story to be better or to do better with their lives. I really want to impact people and to be able to leave a legacy more than just create creating vibes. I’m not vibes on vibes person.

  • Have you ever created something that you thought was fire but it flopped?
▪️LOL! Of course! Im very sure if you ask any artist this question they will tell you the same. We have, that we felt like, ah this will be great. There was a song like I did, I am back. I feel like it was a great record but it didn’t do so well. There’s so many I’ve done, some I didn’t even release them. I recorded an EP some years ago that crashed. The laptop crashed with the entire project so I could not put it out. And that really affected me so much, because I loved the project. Let me hint you, it was from a heartbreak I had just gone through, so I think God was restraining me lol.

  • If you could collaborate with any artist who would it be?
▪️I’ve always wanted to work with Mali Music. Well, l also love Lauryn Hill.

  • Social media can be brutal, how do you handle criticism and negative comments?
▪️Very nice question. I think this is something we all deal with, especially in this time, this age. Sometimes I take time out from social media. Sometimes I just want to go off social media. I used to be very conscious of what people say but I’ve really just understood that social media is a game of psychology. If you understand the psychology of social media you will not take everything you see there, you will be able to filter it. I know that this is what is beneficial, I’m using that to filter what I take in. And l also think people should learn how to block people and negative energy. I block a lot. I just block people who I know are not adding value to my life.

  • What’s the weirdest or funniest DM you ever received?
▪️ Well, not weird but many years ago, I got to work for a US based rapper. They reached out to me to do a chorus for a song. That was one day I knew, I am on the right path doing what God has called me to do. So it wasn’t weird in a bad way. I just felt like, really grateful to God for the opportunity. After that we did two or three more collaborations.

  • What’s your favourite social media app?
    ▪️Twitter!

  • If Twitter shut down today what social media app would be your favourite?
    ▪️ Uhmm Instagram.
  • What’s your favourite scripture?

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

Proverbs 3:5-6

  • What’s one lesson God has taught you through your journey?
▪️ Understanding the love of God and how to love the nearest person to me. I feel like the world can do more with much more love than there is right now. If we can express God’s love, the world would be a better place. It’s easy to show love to people we are trying to prove a point to out there but at home we don’t show any of that. The testament of your love really comes from those closest to you who know you.

  • What’s your favourite book of the Bible?
▪️Paul’s letter to the Romans. There’s a lot to learn about Christianity in that book.

  • If you were stranded on an island and you had to have 3 things to survive what would they be?
▪️ Only 3 things? I would have to take my AirPods , a blanket and Edaniels. Ohh my phone too! Add 4 for bonus. We will eat fish from somewhere lol.

  • What’s one song that’s always on repeat on your playlist?
▪️ Yahweh by Edaniels! And bonus, Lonely Road by Jelly Roll.

  • Tea is coffee?
    ▪️Tea

  • Mornings or nights?
    ▪️Mornings. Especially Saturday Mornings!

  • The city or village?
    ▪️City!

  • Movies or Music?
    ▪️Music

  • What’s next for you?
▪️For now I’m doing courses to understand the professional side of things. In music I want to put out more singles this year because there’s a lot of songs I’m working on at the moment. I also plan to do live videos from the songs I’ve released. I see myself developing and diving into music publishing in the future.

  • What advice would you give to young artists who are trying to build their careers?
▪️I do a lot of research so I’m gonna advise on the technical side. They should learn the business part of music and how it’s evolving. They should understand how royalties are paid, how music is published and how you can sync license your songs. Understanding the business side of music will help many artists.

  • If you could give your younger self advice what would it be?
▪️To not be swayed by what others are doing. Understanding the call of God on your life will remove the pressures we go through when we’re too focused on other people. In Nigeria songs are released every week and if you’re not true to yourself you’ll be so confused and pressurised. We call it “I wan blow” that mindset of wanting to be a star overnight. With that mindset you’ll be frustrated and you’ll probably die trying. Just stay true to your own unique path.

  • Any last words or advice you wanna share with us?
▪️It’ll be from my favourite scripture. You may be at the edge of life and dealing with stuff , trust God regardless of whatever is happening. He is able to do! He will direct your paths.
