Taking the time for reflection is a bit of a lost art. Most of us, unfortunately, are living unexamined lives. How well do you know yourself? Do you think about why you do the things you do? Self-reflection is a skill that can help you understand yourself better. It is a required skill for personal growth. I highlighted personal growth because nobody on this earth can “self” reflect on your behalf. Your friends and family can trigger it by asking questions but my dear, your life – your journey- your business. It is all in your hands and as they say, the ball is in your court, you choose what to do with it that’s if – you’ll do anything at all.

Being able to evaluate your strengths and weaknesses, or what you did right or wrong, can help you identify areas for growth and improvement, so you can work on them. Last week we attended the Excel Conference 2024 at House of Treasures Ministries. As I sat there listening to the Word I realised, I had not kicked the ball hard enough. Just a little wiggle. I said to myself, “Vanessa you’re not where you’re supposed to be in destiny. You are where you have shrunk to be. This is not it!” .. It shook me up! Some of us need a little shaking into reality, I’m sorry to burst your bubble but even Cinderella was never a real person, wake up from fairytales and let’s smell the coffee!

“The entrance of thy words giveth light; It giveth understanding unto the simple.”

If the Word does not enter, we suffer in darkness and confusion. True self reflection is at the lenses of His word. Beloved l hope you know that the Word of God had every dimension of life covered! From relationships to money to education to everything you choose to name! Many of us are stuck in ditches full of mud and no hand to help us out because the hand is the Word! When the word of God enters you, you begin to have sleepless nights “Lord what is it that is in the inside of me that my generation is waiting for?Lord where is the disconnect?What things should l fix?!” .. listen, you have no business having sleepless nights over movies at the expense of destiny! Look in the mirror, Is creation not groaning for your manifestation as a son of God?

Realizing the problem can help you correct it. I have been doing a lot of thinking about my life. The problem has never been the Word, it was that the word did not enter. Now that it has, through excel conference, l realise that certain things didn’t deserve my attention, my reaction or my response, some things didn’t deserve my time, some people didn’t have to come into my life , I shouldn’t have let others leave – like l said – wholesome view, wholesome correction.

As you reflect today be honest with yourself otherwise you’ll box the air all your life, are you okay? Are you sure? Are you where you wanna be? Have you done all you said you’d do by May 2024?

Those who live and never look into the mirror will never know if there’s mud on their face.

This image reminds me of home . I grew up in a big family. Our house was like a cinema when we all gathered to watch something on tv. WWE was our favourite!! I was team Sean Michaels but I had a crush on Tripple H ( I don’t know how and why lol do not judge me) I believed that they were really fighting and were real enemies, smh. I have been meditating on Hannah’s prayer for a while now. The bible says she poured her heart out to God, this means, our prayers should always be from the heart. Many people pray in tongues but their hearts are not connected to the prayer. Hannah was not playing church. She wasn’t playing games. She was not pretending to pray! It wasn’t for the title “prayer warrior” no! She was in the right posture, pouring her heart to the Lord. I highly recommend that you go through the whole story from 1Samuel chapter 1.

At this point Hannah was fed up of carrying a burden that taunted her day and night. Tired of Peninah’s mockery; the trips to Shiloh – coming back empty handed. Listen, a Christian life with no results is frustrating. I have lived it before but that was the last of it! Like Esau l became restless and decided to travail and break the yoke! At some point you need to make a decision that you will not let Him go until Jacob becomes Israel, until Samuel is conceived, until the yoke is broken! These lies we have believed that “it will happen if it’s meant to be” will leave us empty and angry at God!! Hannah, pour your heart out to the Lord! Why sit there until you die? Why endure when you can enjoy? Your womb can carry a child – do not let the enemy make you think otherwise!

Hannah begins to travail. (I almost typed in tongues!) Kai! She enters into the groanings which I believe were a dimension of the Holy Spirit interceding for us. Her prayer was verbal , it seemed like she was introducing us to the work of the Holy Spirit in the New Testament, groanings that cannot be uttered in words

”In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.“
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭26‬-‭27‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Something stood out for me in the way she prayed. l”And she made a vow, saying, “Lord Almighty, if you will only look on your servant’s misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the Lord for all the days of his life, and no razor will ever be used on his head.”“
‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭1‬:‭11‬ ‭NIV‬‬

This is our topic today. The vows you made when you needed a breakthrough! “Oh Lord give me the job I will be a kingdom financier!” Or “Lord give me a husband, I will serve you all my life!” .. really? This one that we complain about paying tithe? We forget about serving in the house of God once we have the marriages? Where is the Samuel you promised to bring back to the temple? Where is the boy? Have we forgotten how we poured our hearts to God when we really needed divine intervention? Moses warns Israel in the book of Exodus , he says do not forget the Lord your God when you have entered this land of milk and honey. Oh because it is very easy to forget! How many people have forgotten you after all the help you’ve given them? It’s easy to forget once you see the milk and honey you’ve longed for!! Once the fees is paid, the job comes, the business is booming, will you take Samuel to the temple as promised? Some people have never tithed since they started working, a job that came by the hand of the Lord, all they say is “I’ve got bills!” My darling, you’re a thief! “I’m too busy to serve!” That is foolishness.

I just came to remind you, Samuel belongs to the temple. In closing,

”When you make a vow to God, do not delay to fulfill it. He has no pleasure in fools; fulfill your vow. It is better not to make a vow than to make one and not fulfill it. Do not let your mouth lead you into sin. And do not protest to the temple messenger, “My vow was a mistake.” Why should God be angry at what you say and destroy the work of your hands? Much dreaming and many words are meaningless. Therefore fear God.“
‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭5‬:‭4‬-‭7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

So what did Hannah do? She didn’t cheat her way out of the vow like we do;

”I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him. So now I give him to the Lord. For his whole life he will be given over to the Lord.” And he worshiped the Lord there.“

Dear Lord, we are grateful. Thank you for your the sufficiency of your grace, for the new mercies we receive every morning and for Your love. You are a faithful God! We are always in awe of You. Lord we thank You for shelter, food, water, clothes, the shoes on our feet, the beating of our hearts, the opening of our eyes and for every blessing bestowed upon us. What manner of love is this? You gave us identity when we were lost in the world. When we were not a people, You still came for us, to whom shall we compare our God? Thank You for a new week! The days May change, as well as the times and seasons but You remain the same. We decree that this shall be a good week! We declare by faith that none of us will see pain and disappointment, there shall be no compromises! We scatter every plan of the enemy against us by the blood of Jesus! We will not die!!!! We are of Goshen! We are of the city of light! We judge every spirit of delay by the blood of Jesus! No more delays! This is our week of speed! This is our week of alignment! Our eyes see, our ears hear what the Lord is saying! We walk by faith! In the name of Jesus, our lines have fallen in pleasant places, we have a good inheritance! Thank You Father for we shall surely return with testimonies by Friday this very week!!!
