What is so special about me?

Hello Yielded people!

I took a little break from blogging to find my footing again, and I’ve realised that sometimes I simply don’t have anything to write, and that’s okay. When I do have something to share, I write a lottttt. But there are moments when I don’t feel like it or don’t yet have enough clarity to fully express a topic and that’s part of the journey too. Rest assured, though, I’ll keep writing until My Jesus comes. This week, I want us to start unwrapping parts of ourselves, discovering things that will help us not just occupy, but truly appreciate who we are and build the confidence we so deeply need.

What is so special about you? What is it that, when you sit down quietly, you truly appreciate about yourself? It’s amazing how much we lack self-esteem, self-respect, and confidence simply because we do not know who we are. No one ever told us or we haven’t cared enough to discover, the beautiful things God placed inside of us. So when a brother doesn’t like me back, I start feeling like I’m not that special. When a sister rejects me, it crashes my self-esteem, and I begin to think so lowly of myself. When I don’t receive compliments on that beautiful photo, I even consider deleting it. But what is really the matter? The truth is, we often forget just how special we are.

This is a mindset I’ve had to cultivate over the years that, I am a blessing. I may not be perfect, but I am special. Special to God, special to myself, and to the people who are able to see me the same way. So I ask you, what are at least three things that make you stand out? It could be something physical, a unique characteristic, or even your intellect. The truth is, you have to see it in yourself first before the world does. When you recognise your own value, you begin to set a standard for how people should treat you. Too often, people treat us poorly because they are responding to the low view we have of ourselves, a standard we have unknowingly accepted and presented.

Do you know there are people who have everything it takes to become who they are meant to be, yet the only bridge between them and that life is confidence? They hesitate to pitch ideas because they second-guess their accent, their English everything about themselves. They can’t even ask someone they like out because they feel inadequate. We hold ourselves back from shining in the very spaces God placed us in because we feel too small.

But the truth is, if you don’t know what makes you you, you will never fully understand the impact you are capable of making. Take Gideon for example he did not lack ability, he lacked identity. And that’s exactly where many of us are. When you have no clear sense of who you are, you find yourself shrinking, begging, and doubting at every step operating timidly in places where you were actually called to stand boldly and dominate.

I’ve come to the conclusion that unless we work on the inner man, we will be incapable of truly occupying the spaces God has called us to. God can open great doors and say “step in,” but what will often stop you is you. Many of the weapons we think are formed against us are actually internal, it’s you against you. It’s you not loving yourself enough to stop accepting nonsense, you not valuing yourself enough to think highly of who you are. If you lack self-confidence, then what the enemy is doing becomes secondary, the primary issue is what you are doing to yourself.

So what can you do to build your confidence? Start by being intentional about your self-talk, speak to yourself with kindness and truth, not criticism. Take time to identify and write down your strengths, no matter how small they seem, and remind yourself of them often. Put yourself in environments that affirm and challenge you to grow, not ones that constantly tear you down. Most importantly, build your identity in who God says you are, not in people’s opinions, because confidence that is rooted in truth will always stand firm. What are some ways you think you can start building your confidence? I’ll build on that tomorrow. See you then, confident one.

If you read my blogs but have never met this  Wonderful Jesus that I’m always writing about,  you’d love to get to know Him, Or you know The Lord but have found yourself drifting far from Him, I would love to talk with you. Please send me an email  on yieldedcwcenter@gmail.com or simply comment, and I will reach out to you.
