How to stop masturbating..

Happy new week, my Yielded People. In this new week, we will be taking up a new topic as a continuation of our series on masturbation. If it’s your first time here, I’d encourage you to start with the five-part series we began with, as it will provide the foundation for what we’ll be discussing going forward. As a disclaimer, everything we discuss here may not be enough to help someone who is chronically addicted. In such cases, you may need counselling or to expose yourself to more resources such as sermons, books, and other biblical teachings.

We eat according to our hunger. If your hunger is greater, you find more food. All I’m asking from everyone is intentionality and a genuine level of seriousness as we journey through this together. Shall we?

When you have a headache, you know it. When you have a runny tummy, you know it. How do you know? Because you feel the pain and the discomfort. Nobody has to tell you that you have a headache. Nobody has ever had to tell me that I have period pains, I’m the one who tells them because I’m the one wearing the shoe, so I know how tight it is. In the same way, whether you masturbate or not is something only you truly know. I can’t tell you that.

Whether you’re addicted or whether you do it often, I honestly don’t know. You are the one who has to come to that truth, which is why on Reflection Friday last week I asked everyone to confront themselves. But how many people actually did that? The best thing you can do is take action about your situation. Do you know that some people could have been free a long time ago? But as I said before, when sin is enjoyable, we make excuses for it.

If you simply sit down trying to figure out why you got the headache or how you could have avoided it, while doing nothing about it, you’re wasting valuable time. The bottom line is that you have the headache, so you get painkillers as soon as possible. Likewise, you won’t stop masturbating simply because you read about it on this blog. You will stop because you want to because you’ve become honest about the effects it has had on your life. You have to stop avoiding your struggle.

Understanding why you should stop masturbating is the foundation, learning how to stop is the action. Last week I was talking to my little niece, and she told me she had cried so much because she had been given some flu syrup that tasted “terrible”. Even though she had a bad flu, a blocked nose, and all the discomfort that came with it, she didn’t want to take the medicine because of its taste. As I thought about that, I realised that some treatments are painful, unpleasant, and difficult to take. What I loved, though, is that she still took it, even while crying. Imagine if she had refused it simply because it tasted bad, she would have remained sick.

In the same way, I’m saying to you that the treatment for the “masturbation flu” may be difficult. It may require sacrifice, discipline, accountability, and you may even cry through the process. But if you refuse the treatment because it’s uncomfortable, you will remain in the condition. You’ll continue to experience the symptoms and the consequences. We all know that, if left untreated, the flu can become serious and, in some cases, people kick the bucket. Don’t allow yourself to suffer from a curable disease. Sometimes victory starts with warfare, the “bitter taste.”

If you are reading this, you maybe seeking freedom from masturbation but for some, if you think you are not addicted to masturbation, think of it this way. Fish don’t know they’re in the water. If you tried explaining it, they’d probably say, “Water? What’s water?” What that simply means is, you could’ve done it too long that it’s your natural habitat. You don’t see anything unusual about it, so you don’t even know if you’re addicted or not. It’s just become a lifestyle, no conscience, no repentance, just vibes right?

To stop masturbating, there has to first be confrontation and diagnosis. Imagine getting ARVs for a a toothache? Or getting medlemon for an eye problem. The more the pain, the stronger the medicine. The weaker the pain, the weaker the medicine. Are you addicted? Don’t rush to finish reading. Read that part again. Answer these questions please. Answer in all truth and honesty

  • Are you addicted?
  • On a scale of 1-10 how bad is it?
  • How many times do you do it a day?
  • What’s the time you usually do it?
  • Where do you usually do it?
  • Do you watch porn?
  • Were you introduced to porn or you discovered it yourself?
  • Have you ever been molested?
  • When did you start masturbating?
  • Do you want to be free?
  • Do you enjoy it?
  • How do you feel afterwards?
  • Are you willing to put in the work?

Our first step is self introspection & confrontation. If you lie there, guess what? You’re lying to yourself. If you’re honest and actually answer those questions, I can tell you for free, you’re off to a good start. Bring someone here by reposting the link to your status or groups. I love you.
