In some parts of the world, we still have women being treated like servants. We still have women who are denied education and employment, and all they are expected to do is marry and have children. In some countries, a girl is seen as a woman long before she is ready. At a very tender age, girls are married off to much older men, men who are old enough to have grandchildren and have a few teeth left. These are heartbreaking realities that still exist today. Today, I want us to define who a woman truly is. If you’re interested, smile.
In the book of Genesis, we are introduced to a woman named Eve. One unique thing about Eve is that she was created a woman; she was not born the way you and I were. Because of that, we need to distinguish between Eve’s creation and the journey of every other female born into the world. Unlike Eve, we all begin life as girls before we become women. So before we define what a woman is, let’s first define a girl. What is a girl?
A girl is a female child or young female who is in the process of growing and developing into womanhood. She is not yet a woman,
but a young female person who has not yet reached adulthood. She is in the stage of growth and development , physically, emotionally, mentally, and socially before becoming a woman.
This definition makes it clear that a woman is a female who has grown and reached maturity. She has developed physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. If these areas of development have not taken place, a female may still be in girlhood, even at the age of 30. In my view, age alone does not determine maturity. However, from a biological perspective, the brain, particularly the prefrontal cortex, which plays a key role in reasoning, decision-making, and self-control continues developing into the mid-twenties, often around age 25.
This is one of the reasons adulthood is associated with greater maturity. In other words, a woman is first a girl and then grows into womanhood. Shall I tell you something? Every woman was once a girl. No one is born a woman; womanhood is entered through growth and development. That said, what then is the confusion on social media about gender? How many genders are there? Scripture clearly says two and nobody on scripture decided at 20 that they wanted to be a different gender and God granted it. Nobody.
So we learn that women are first girls. It is during that girlhood that we are to be taught our identity. You’d be shocked how many little girls now think they are boys and how many little boys think they are girls. Remember yesterday I said we are defining a woman by first connecting her to her creator , God. Anything God has not said or approved , we avoid completely. Some of you who have children, you need to solidify on this because the world is deteriorating and teaching them all the wrong things.
There are women who are still girls. Paradoxically, they have the age and physical appearance of a woman, but their minds remain in a place of girlhood and immaturity, a place of undeveloped identity and incomplete growth. Buffering growth. Still on 43% at 45 years old. Hmmmmm. The truth is, a woman can display childlike or girlish traits from time to time, but a girl cannot act like a woman. Did you catch that? A woman may act girly, but when a girl begins trying to live as though she is already a woman, something has gone wrong.
Welcome to the world we live in today, where many teenagers on social media are rushing into adulthood. They imitate the lifestyles of grown women, pursue relationships with much older men, and carry burdens they were never meant to bear at such a young age. They are in a hurry to enter womanhood, but I don’t know about you, womanhood is not an easy hood. As for me, Yhoo. Yho x 567 billion.
I want to say I’m sorry to every girl who had to grow up too fast. I’m sorry for the responsibilities you carried before you even had the chance to discover who you were. I’m sorry that life forced you to mature when the season simply called for you to be a girl, to play, to learn, to dream, and to be a child. I’m sorry to every little girl who was sent into the homes of older men, where her young, underdeveloped body was exploited for someone else’s gain. I’m sorry that those people are oftentimes, not sorry for hurting you.
I’m sorry to the girls who grew up without the example of a healthy, godly woman to guide them into womanhood. And if you’re reading this blog and you see yourself in these words, my darling, I am so, so sorry. You deserved a childhood. You deserved protection. You deserved the time and space to grow into the woman you were always meant to become. You deserved to be a girl first, enjoying all those colourful hairstyles, Barbie dolls, and so forth.
As a woman myself, I have come to appreciate that God didn’t create everyone the way He created Eve. We all had to be born. Imagine if God had to keep forming each of us from the dust every time! The only part of that I think I would’ve enjoyed is that I’d probably have met my husband immediately. Lol. You just wake up & tadaaaa 🎉
On a more serious note, I want us to be intentional about supporting girls and women. Let us stand for justice for girls who have been abused. Let us buy a pack of sanitary pads for someone who cannot afford them. Let us be a blessing, whether it’s to an orphanage or simply to one girl or woman whose day you can brighten. Are you gonna do it? I’m proud of you already sha.
This month of August, do something kind for another female. Buy a pack of hairpins. Gift someone a pair of earrings. Whether you’re a man or a woman, bless a girl or woman with something thoughtful. Maybe it’s a pair of pink shoes for the little girl who walks the streets in worn-out sandals. Maybe it’s a pair of heels for a woman who would never expect such kindness. It doesn’t have to be expensive, it just has to come from a heart of love. We are all doing it aren’t we? Wooolalahhh! Perhaps a target of 3 women you’d like to give a smile?
This month, I trust that we will become better women by helping another woman or girl become better too. To the girl in you, I’m sending you the biggest hug. To the woman in you, I want you to know this, you are special.
See you tomorrow.💖
