One of the most important things that we must urge women to do is to take care of themselves, particularly in their heal, mental health, emotional health, physical well-being, etcetera. I pray we have not adopted a form of the gospel that erases taking medicine because of a bottle of water from the sea that you got from a prophet. Many women are unwell, but because they are mbokodos (a Zulu term for strong women), they sit there with their “leprosy” until they die. My darling, you need to be healthy to function at the best of your ability and at all times.
The woman with the issue of blood was ill for 12 years, but guess what? She was seeking help. Her money finished because she was intentional about her well-being. She wanted to be well, even though she had to spend money to pursue her healing. Scripture tells us that she had spent all she had on physicians, and yet she did not give up. Even later, we see her desperation when she reaches out and touches the garment of the Lord. How many women are desperate for their healing, or are we simply walking through life as long as no one sees that we are bleeding?
Do we dress up and smell nice, but underneath the clothes is a heart that is crying because it has never offloaded all that it has been carrying? We must learn to care for the woman beneath the appearance. God wants you healed and whole. If He didn’t, Christ could have stopped the healing power from flowing to her, I hope you know He could. But He didn’t. He allowed the power to flow and heal her. Woman, how is your mind? Do you even sleep at all? Who have you told about those hidden struggles? And what about your heart? Has it healed? Are you willing to be healed?
As I always say, being numb does not mean you are healed. Sometimes people are simply numb, and they confuse numbness with, “I’ve forgiven them,” or, “I’m healed.” Meanwhile, they remain stuck in the rut of pain, carrying wounds they have never truly dealt with. Healing is not pretending it never happened. Healing is allowing God to touch the places you have spent years trying not to feel. I know some women were molested, neglected, abused and so it feels like they are always going to be a victim. You can be a Victor with any story you tell.
Your physical wellness is also very, very important. Look, if you don’t take care of your body, the truth is, you may die sooner, contrary to the long life you could have been given. People drink themselves to powder, people eat anyhow mixing foods that shouldn’t be mixed, people smoke many boxes of cigarettes a day, the whole thing o, people sleep around without protection, being disobedient to God in the first place.
What about those who are now taking antidepressants? Some have accidents but never get checked up. You see, your body is the only legal means through which you can function on earth. If you keep neglecting it, it will eventually check out. And yes, even if you are a prayer warrior, if you are careless with your body, you can still fall asleep.
Let me also say this. you shouldn’t be fasting for 100 days without the leading of the Spirit. Your body will eventually start fighting you. A fast should never become a means of harming yourself. Fast, but be wise. Your reproductive health matters too. Women need to stop allowing just anyone to have access to their reproductive organs. There are so many diseases and infections circulating, so we need to be intentional about protecting ourselves and taking care of our bodies.
There are probiotics and other forms of supplements for your health; it is not wrong to use them when appropriate. Pregnant women, please take care of yourselves. Eat well, rest well, attend your check-ups, and listen to your body. Caring for yourself is stewardship. In mental health it’s even worse. The neglect is so bad. People are walking around with brokenness you can almost touch it with your hands. Bitterness and anger strong enough to start a fire. Ah!
Many of our parents never went through any healing, and that is why they were sometimes harsh. If you don’t do something about your own load, your children and the people around you will suffer too. To the woman reading this, take good care of yourself. Touch the hem of His garment. Let Him in. Let Him embalm the wound and bandage it well. I pray for the day you smile and it is genuinely from a healed place. And to those who are whole and have already walked through the healing journey, I say, keep going. Keep choosing wholeness. Life is so beautiful with you in it.
I love you🌹
