Distractions

Happy new week! I pray you are doing well.
Last week we discussed about fixed/fixing thoughts, I’d like us to continue with the topic this week.

When we talk about focus or fixed thoughts, we talk about the ability to keep your attention on a particular thing, to pay attention to, to have a clear vision , to be organised, to be disciplined. Many of us struggle with this and that’s how we find ourselves unproductive or doing everything all at once being ineffective in everything. I am currently teaching myself to stick to schedule, to keep my vision as clear as day. My mind is quite a factory, there can be a lot of noise, so many things to do, so many thoughts but I’ve realised, I’m more efficient and effective when I fix my mind on a particular project, finish it and move on to the next one.

A no routine life is a distracted life. If I don’t plan to do anything at 10am, it means anything can happen at 10am, TV , Cell phone use (talking, texting, gaming, social media use) mind wandering, or extreme agitation of the mind. While you’re on TikTok you switch to Bible app for ten mins, you get a text on WhatsApp, there you go, someone dms you on Instagram, you move from one thing to another and after 5hrs you realise, you’ve been dealing with a distracted mind and you have wasted so much time.

Imagine if Jesus was always so distracted? He would have ended up not making it to the cross. Many people tried to distract Him by their words! You’re not the only one! What did a distraction of women do to Samson? We think it’s just all fun and games until our eyes are opened up to see the real danger of not having a clear mind. Be clear about your day, be clear about what you want to do and with who, be clear about your convictions! Nobody ever grows in distracted environments, it’s too chaotic . God is not found in such places but most definitely, The devil is. As you distract yourself from school or work with social media, you find yourself looking at lustful triggers & evil scenes , more thoughts start to pop up. Of course there are people who suffer from ADHD – attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. It is a medical condition. A person with ADHD has differences in brain development and brain activity that affect attention, the ability to sit still, and self-control. However, like any other condition , this too bows before the Name of Jesus and should not be an issue in the life of a believer .

Careless thinking has brought many people to ruin and to stagnation. Your mind can be trained to focus on bible study , to focus at work, at school, IN CHURCH! People go to church and all they’re thinking about is silly things. People fast and all they think about is food and Netflix . During prayer people are thinking about the craziest of things. My friends, the truth is, you’re going nowhere with that mind. It’s too busy to carry you to destiny. It’s too occupied to help you birth your Samuel. Hannah was not thinking about the priest, she was locked into the prayer; body , soul and mind . Lock into whatever you do. Fixed thoughts. Clear vision. Schedule. Discipline. RID YOURSELF OF DISTRACTIONS!

”So above all, guard the affections of your heart, for they affect all that you are. Pay attention to the welfare of your innermost being, for from there flows the wellspring of life.“
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭4‬:‭23‬ ‭TPT‬‬

The whole picture

”We can all draw close to him with the veil removed from our faces. And with no veil we all become like mirrors who brightly reflect the glory of the Lord Jesus. We are being transfigured into his very image as we move from one brighter level of glory to another. And this glorious transfiguration comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.“
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭3‬:‭18‬ ‭TPT‬‬

THE HOLY BIBLE

Looking at this picture , I got the sense that the person in the mirror either does not want to be seen or only wants to be seen [or see themselves] through the bits and pieces. What this means is, they’re afraid to confront the whole picture, the whole reflection, to come face to face with their whole life so they chose to break the mirror and pick out small details of their life to confront or be confronted by . Many of us are like that and that’s why we never heal. We dare not look at the whole picture, only the pieces of what doesn’t threaten the walls we have built. We hate confrontation. We hate the closer look.

Look at the picture again. Can you tell who’s in the mirror? Bet you said no! The problem is not with your eyes, the problem is the mirror. The person responsible for shattering the glass is the one who has ruined the image we are supposed to be seeing. Sometimes it’s us or them. The memories and happenings in our lives are as a result of our personal decisions or people’s influence. The clearer the mirror , the clearer the reflection. You cannot reflect on things that you keep distorting by lying to yourself.

Lastly, in order to have an effective self introspection process, you need the Word of God. You cannot fix things that have a manual maintenance system unless you check out what the manufacturer of the product says. His word is our mirror. His word is what corrects us.

”God has transmitted his very substance into every Scripture, for it is God-breathed. It will empower you by its instruction and correction, giving you the strength to take the right direction and lead you deeper into the path of godliness.“
‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬ ‭TPT‬‬

The Holy Bible

As we reflect on our week, take a closer look. What triggered your actions that Monday? How do you change your decision that you made on Tuesday? Are you okay? Are you breaking the mirror because you’re afraid to confront things?
It is always a pleasure writing to you, see you on Monday. ❤️

Worship Wednesday

”Lift up a great shout of joy to Yahweh! Go ahead and do it—everyone, everywhere! Worship Yahweh with gladness. Sing your way into his presence with joy! And realize what this really means— we have the privilege of worshiping Yahweh our God. For he is our Creator and we belong to him. We are the people of his pleasure. You can pass through his open gates with the password of praise. Come right into his presence with thanksgiving. Come bring your thank offering to him and affectionately bless his beautiful name! For Yahweh is always good and ready to receive you. He’s so loving that it will amaze you— so kind that it will astound you! And he is famous for his faithfulness toward all. Everyone knows our God can be trusted, for he keeps his promises to every generation!“
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭100‬:‭1‬-‭5‬ ‭TPT‬‬

In your own words, magnify the King of Zion!

Fix your thoughts

”Keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising him always.“
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬ ‭TPT‬‬

THE HOLY BIBLE

Apostle Paul is writing to all God’s holy people in Christ Jesus at Philippi, together with the overseers and deacons. (Philippians‬ ‭1‬:‭1‬ ‭NIV) In chapter 4, he addresses the mind. He begins to teach about the kind of a mindset Christians should have, pastor or not, deacon or not, everyone! He says on this issue, keep your thoughts continually FIXED! Keep them locked into something. Keep them rooted in something, continually! What this means is, you choose to focus your mind on things, there’s no room for careless thinking! Everyday, intentionally decide to fix your thoughts, to reject confusion, a fixed mind does not suffer confusion! A mind that is not continually fixed on something leads a person astray . It becomes the devil’s playground and his door to the person’s life!

Do you know why the spirit of depression seems to keep preying on people? It is because the devil has discovered that man is careless in his thinking patterns . Man guards his money, his house, his property but leaves his mind to wander off, to wander around like loose tap of water. Man would rather protect his car “insure” it than do anything about his mind why? Because we do not realise the dangers of unintentional thinking. We remain locked into anxiety and depression because our minds have become a seesaw for demons to ride on whenever they please.

There are people the devil does not need to attack by giving them diseases , he can just confuse them and that’s it. Many mad people aren’t physically sick, the problem is there’s a spirit playing different channels in their minds. While there’s an action movie playing , the devil switches it to channel O, then horror scene, then ama piano. A whole lot of crazy! Such people are already defeated. Defeat the mind , defeat the person, defeat his purpose , defeat his plans, defeat his vision. Apostle Paul says CONTINUALLY FIX YOUR THOUGHTS . Keep on doing the self introspection, be aware of what goes on in your mind because it’s easy to be absent minded or distracted. Your mind is your treasure. Nobody wants to be friends with someone whose mind is scattered not to talk of marriage why? Because you’ll be the door way to problems in people’s lives.

Head to MPG Instagram page to participate in the 40 day challenge of mindset shift. Remember to do all you can to work on your mind. It’ll be a long topic but the Lord will help us until we finally yield our minds to Holy Spirit.
