Looking in the mirror 

Life is not a matter of self evaluation through worldly standards but through the word of God. The Christian mirror is nothing else but the Bible. When we do self introspection through the lenses of scripture we are most likely to find the mistakes quickly and discover the ways to fix them , vice versa. The world does not dictate how we should live for if it does, we have no part in this kingdom, we are disobedient, rebellious, wayward ! As you look back this week, what areas of your life were not completely surrendered to God? Your thoughts? Time?  Speech? Wardrobe? Uncontrolled appetites?

This week Holy Spirit kept on reminding me to watch my thoughts why? Because in my creative mind, I find myself trying to create stories but they’d always end up being a “scary movie”. Im used to writing fictional novels for adults so the transition from that to trying to create something for children is just mad crazy! I was hearing “No, pull that thought down let’s try another way to create a story” as I reflect , I’m reminded of Philippians 4;8”Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.“ ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬ ‭NIV‬‬ https://bible.com/bible/111/php.4.8.NIV

The real surrender happens on the inside [the inner man] and affects what’s on the outside which is now our actions.Take a closer look in the mirror, what does the Word say about how you acted throughout the week? If you’re truly willing to change, Holy Spirit will help you . Remember when you see a problem, work on it through scripture not through “normalising” what heaven rejects, that’s how we learn to yield. A man who doesn’t reflect and introspect is a man of many mistakes which could’ve been avoided.

The pilgrim’s progress

My beloved family, l just want to thank you for showing up here every weekday! It means a lot to me. Thank you a million times , you’re truly a treasure. Today l want us to watch a movie together. I’ve watched it many times and it has taught me a lot about life as a Christian. Take sometime and watch it. I know, l know it’s animation and some of us have outgrown that but we can never be ignorant to teachings because we have outgrown the channel or means used to teach. Expect lots of Christian movies, sermons, games, etcetera as we go! Tomorrow we will do some self introspection and reflection looking at the past, present and future. What will it cost?

Everything. The cost is all of you for all of God. All of you, for all of the Spirit. A bit of you will not cut it. “God knows my heart” while you still lie and cheat won’t cut it.  “God only looks at the heart” while you make excuses for riotous and reckless living won’t cut it. In the book of Luke chapter 5, the disciples finally got what they toiled all night for. THE FISH. A net breaking number of fish that filled two boats but the bible says they left it all to follow Jesus. They left the boats, the nets, the fish they worked so hard to get, the customers, to follow Jesus. Do you know what it means to follow Jesus after you have received what you want? Would you still follow if you woke up a millionaire? Would you still serve as much as you do now? If you got the job? If you met the Ruth and Boaz? Would you still follow Him? Would l ? Yet Simon in John 6 says , “Master we have forsaken everything to follow you!”

You leave something for something. Nobody ever leaves for no reason, people only leave when they have found something better, have been chased away or rejected or are fed up of something. In this instance we are not told that they were fed up of fishing or they were chased from the sea ,they found something better. Let me tell you, there’s no yielding in bits and pieces. You don’t yield the fish and keep the net. They left everything! Meaning right now if God asks you to yield all your finances for the church building project, you literally yield every cent. My friend, here we will go from milk to solids, we will teach each other the meat of the gospel. “Oh no God wouldn’t ask me for that much” Ehh do you know a man called Abraham? Why did he go to mount Moriah? For a braai? To sightsee? For fresh air? Was he exercising or participating in some hiking challenge? No. He went to yield what was in that moment his boat, net and fish , Isaac.

Are you ready to yield? To walk the hard but necessary path? If God says give me Isaac, would you? Lay him on the altar, bind him up and raise your hand to stab him, shoo! Yielding costs everything and you’ll soon understand why l say so as we keep climbing the ladder. The cost of yielding is never calculated by man … the one who totals it is GOD.

What did it cost Jesus to yield to the Father?Everything. It cost Him heaven, He left It to come to earth. It also cost Him earth, He hung there on the cross, a yielded Son, even unto His last breath, never did He yield to His own will… that’s it family. To yield. To surrender. To submit. It is everything. It costs everything. It demands everything.
