Building against all odds 2 🧱

The truth is, I’ve never been a small dreamer. Once I decide I want to do something, I think from the end to the beginning. Sometimes my own dreams challenge me. My plans even make me worry sometimes lol, just because of how far ahead I’ve already gone in my mind. One of my biggest challenges has always been telling people about the things I want to build. You can see the doubt in their faces. You can almost hear them thinking, “Girl, I think this time you’ve gone too far.” But honestly, I can’t help it.

When you’re building, you will meet people who don’t understand your vision. They will hear your dreams and still have something negative to say. That’s normal because not everyone will see things the way you do. It’s YOUR vision after all. It’s very difficult to find people who truly understand your vision, especially in the early stages. Most people do not believe in raw materials. They only start believing when they can finally see the structure standing.

Some won’t even believe the structure itself. They want to see the finished house, painted, furnished, complete before they support it or believe in it. There are buildings being constructed right now that only look like bricks and cement to the average eye, but in the mind of the visionary, a mansion is being built. The final result cannot yet be seen physically, but the architect already has confidence in what it will become. So don’t be discouraged by people who only see bricks and stone. As long as your vision is growing, progressing, and being built with purpose, it will come out great.

Another thing, be careful who you share your vision with and who you do not. Some people should not even know that you are building. Others should never know what you are building or when you plan to build it. Not everyone is a witch, but some people truly have a master’s degree in discouragement. I personally do not keep company with people who constantly speak doubt. The ones who say, “Hmm… I don’t think you have what it takes.” Madam, please step aside. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Your building season is too sensitive to allow just anyone access to the construction site of your vision.

If you are building a house, you do not ask a doctor how to lay bricks. You go to architects, plumbers, builders, and painters, people who understand the assignment. If you are painting, why would you ask a carpenter for painting advice? You understand? Do not surround your vision with random opinions from people who have no understanding of where you are going. Be intentional about who you allow to speak into your building season.

Do not get excited and team up with people who cannot lift a tool. Whatever you are building, you need hardworking people around you. I am very strict about productivity. I cannot bring into my team people who will sing lullabies while important tasks are not getting done. If someone takes responsibility for the interior of a building, there should be progress. There should be urgency, preparation, and results. Why should the interior still look like a wilderness after such a long time?Build with builders.

Do not build with people who only love the idea of building but do not want to put their hands to work. Those kinds of people become dead weight. They slow the work down. They drag their feet. They miss deadlines. They keep postponing. They are always unprepared. You constantly have to chase after them just to get things done. You cannot build something meaningful with people who lack consistency and discipline. If you are a musician and your band is constantly disorganised, they can destroy your career before it even begins. You need solid builders people with skill, zeal, discipline, and capacity. People who understand that great things are built one brick at a time, with consistency.

Lastly for today, put sentiments aside when building. Am I saying become a robot? No. But when you are building something serious, there will be meetings, decisions, deadlines, and responsibilities. Unfortunately, tears are not the language of the boardroom. Emotions alone cannot produce results or productivity. Sometimes you and your team will need to put feelings aside and focus on the work.

If the majority agrees on a direction and one person insists on something different without a solid reason, the team cannot stop everything because of emotions or threats to resign. Building requires maturity. And let me tell you my people, if you want to survive in the marketplace, you cannot be overly sensitive to noise. The marketplace is noisy. There will be pressure, opinions, criticism, competition, and challenges. If every bit of noise throws you off emotionally, then the marketplace will frustrate you.

Train yourself to stay focused despite the noise, or you will lose opportunities and business. Put sentiments aside when necessary. If a friend is not meeting deadlines, address it honestly. If a friend is inconsistent, speak about it directly. The vision cannot collapse because people are afraid to have difficult conversations. Building requires accountability, discipline, and emotional maturity. Let me leave you with that for today. See you tomorrow.
