Occupying through knowledge

This year I will bomb you guys with these topics. What I did was think of many ways in which we can occupy and as I was noting them down, I realised that the man or woman who doesn’t occupy just doesn’t want to. Sounds unfair right? Of course everyone wants to occupy, well that’s not true. We chant it but we don’t act it. There’s so many ways that if by December we still haven’t done anything it’s not that we couldn’t, it’s that we wouldn’t. It’s not that it was impossible, it’s because we did not want to. Take this truth with water, it may be difficult to swallow especially to those who hate confrontation.

We don’t call doctors “doctors” just because it sounds good, we call them that because they acquired knowledge through years of studying medicine and science, just like teachers earn their title through learning how to educate others; you can’t wake up one day and decide to be called a banker when the only thing you know about banking is having an account at Capitec or Fidelity, and you can’t claim to be a makeup artist when the brows testify against you, because titles are not claimed by desire but validated by knowledge without knowledge, a name is just noise. I’m not being sarcastic by the way.

Someone once asked me if I’m a real counsellor and honestly I found it funnier than offensive, because in my mind I thought, would I ever just wake up and decide to be that? Certainly not, because that role carries the power to either help or destroy people’s lives, we’ve seen cases where individuals forged documents to pose as lawyers or nurses and even if their defence was financial pressure, the law still held them accountable because human lives are at risk.

This brings us back to a simple truth, you need knowledge to become something, you don’t just claim positions you know nothing about and yes, the Holy Spirit teaches all things, of course He does, but the Holy Spirit is not a cover up for laziness. I am yet to see someone qualify as a judge because the Holy Spirit visited their room daily and told them not to go to school, because even the Spirit understands how the world works, and Caesar wants a certificate, not a spiritual explanation, and you cannot show up saying you have a “spiritual qualification.”

Christians need to understand this, deciding that we only want to know the Bible and nothing else is not wisdom. You may say, “I am called to be an apostle to nations,” but have you actually studied the credentials of Apostle Paul? Do you understand why the disciples were looked down upon in the book of Acts, they were called ordinary men with no formal education, no special training, just that they walked with Jesus. The system is not about to give you space to occupy just because you can quote John 11:35, they will ask if you know how to do the job, and “I will wing it as I go” will leave you unemployed while someone who may not even fear God occupies the position, not because they are more spiritual, but because they are more prepared.

This January I’m wrapping up my third book, I’ve beeeeeen reading so even if you slap me, you can’t take that knowledge from me. Some people are even worse they don’t know the Bible yet they want us to call them “pastors” and claim they want to take nations, even worse they are not ordained. Please feed your mind with knowledge, read books, join seminars, ask questions from people who know more than you, because how do you stay a whole week without reading even one page of something and still say you are serious about occupying? You’re lying to us and yourself.

The truth is, if by December you have not occupied, then you did not want to , let’s stop lying to each other and sugar-coating things. You cannot be planning to take Elon Musk’s position when you know nothing about cars or systems. Some people are not promoted at work not because they hate you, but because even if they wanted to promote you, you don’t know how to manage time, and instead of learning through a book or training, you keep offering excuses like traffic, waking up late, or electricity issues while you were ironing in the morning, that’s out right refusing to develop yourself.

One thing I truly love about my friends is how intentionally we push each other to know more. We encourage one another to read, to take short courses, and to grow into where we believe God is taking us, and honestly it has helped us to occupy. We will occupy more this year because we will know more! Just yesterday I learned about a man called Hobab, the son of Reuel, Moses’ father-in-law. In Numbers 10 when Hobab planned to return home, Moses said to him, “

“But Moses said, ‘Please do not leave us, for you know where we should camp in the wilderness, and you will be our eyes. And if you go with us, it shall be that whatever good the Lord will do to us, the same we will do to you.’
— Numbers 10:31–32

Hobab was not a priest or a Nazirite, he was simply a man who understood the desert, yet because he knew something they didn’t, he occupied a space he was never originally meant to. His knowledge was vision for them. I can’t evennnnnn! His knowledge was sight for them. Knowledge is having eye sight, insight, foresight. You know what to do and where to go. He was their advantage. So many people wanted to get to Canaan but only Hobab had knowledge on the ways of the desert. May we be the people who know something that others don’t.

Knowledgeable people are an asset to keep in your circle, but instead some prefer company that is only meme-knowledgeable, people who know gossip, who is dating who, and who is kissing who, but know nothing that can move their lives forward. So they spend hours on the phone talking about everything BUT how to move forward. Anyone who says they can’t read a book because they are too busy is lying. There is a book, a course, a skill, a YouTube video that can fix that issue and help you but we say we are busy. We are often never busy to meet up with a lover though or join friends for a trip. Just too busy to know something we don’t. Sometimes it will just cost you one hour, put away Netflix and chatting and build yourself up!

In closing, I’m reminded of my uncle and my dad. They looooved reading the news paper. Everything written there. They would say, what if something is going to happen in the nation and you have no idea. What if there will be a war? What if ABC ? Back then I didn’t understand and I didn’t care to be honest. But now? I understand them. You surely must know. You may say “Others became billionaires without knowledge of any skill, they didn’t even g to school.” Yeah that’s why they are losing money having to hire workers to help them think. If you don’t know anything you will pay someone who knows to think and decide for you. That’s why we pay doctors for consultation. They know what we don’t.

Why not become a billionaire who knows something. You see your brain? It becomes foggy if it doesn’t receive new information. Brain malnourishment must never be found in us this year. We plan to occupy so let’s us get our minds fed. I hope this really entered you because I’m tired of people asking for intercession on things they could fix if they inclined themselves to knowledge. Google is there. Search. Just do not think you will occupy by wishing.What do you know? I actually applaud someone who maybe didn’t have money for university but went and did a nail course than someone who decided to wait for money to go to university and they have been waiting forever while the ones who decided to know something are occupying and moving forward. We all have more to learn and know. All of us! Think deeply about these things. I love you.❤️
