Hey Family! It’s WORSHIP WEDNESDAY!
So, what’s on your playlist? Personally, I’ve been surviving “Delay” by Minister Theophilus Sunday. And let me tell you—you need to be spiritually, emotionally, and physically FIT to even attempt to sing those lyrics. This song is not for the faint-hearted; it’s for the die-hards who have fully submitted their Wi-Fi connection to heaven.
It reminds me of when people straight-up refused to sing “Refiner” because they had been through the real refiner’s fire and were NOT trying to speed up their sanctification process again. Some lyrics will really have you questioning your life choices, because what do you mean “whatever You want, Lord”?! Are you sure you’re ready for whatever? If you still know deep down that you’re in your Jonah era, my dhiye, please stick to something lighter—maybe a children’s choir singing “Jesus Loves Me.” Let’s not call fire we’re not ready for.
Now, on Worship Wednesdays, I love to dance! And when it comes to praise, my go-to is always Mr M & Revelation. My friend sent me their music three years ago, and honestly? I’ve been their unpaid brand ambassador ever since! Of course, I have to read the lyrics while I dance. King David might have met his match because I WILL DANCE.
My mom had a secret weapon for spring cleaning—gospel music. The moment she hit play on Deborah Fraser or Rebecca Malope, we just KNEW… we were about to sofffferrr.
That’s not just “wipe the table” kind of cleaning. Oh no, no, no! That’s “remove the curtains, clear the entire display, scrub the walls, wash the gate, and maybe even repaint the house” kind of cleaning. You’d start by sweeping, but before you know it, you’re outside cleaning the gate like you work for a cleaning company.
And the crazy part? Gospel music actually makes you clean better. Something about those harmonies makes you wipe in circles like you’re polishing the floors of heaven. Suddenly, you’re deep-cleaning things nobody even asked you to clean.
At some point, I was so inspired I thought, “You know what? Maybe I should be a gospel musician too.” I even recorded an entire album … that nobody on this planet will EVER hear. Not even my future husband. In fact, if the world is ending and my album is the only thing that can save humanity, well… let’s just say I’ll miss you all. Bye bye Mampintsha
So tell me—what’s YOUR Worship Wednesday vibe? Are you cautiously avoiding the “Refiner” playlist? 🌸
