It’s closer than you think

That space between nolonger there & not yet there.

So I’m one of those people who hate travelling… well, not travelling itself, I actually love it. What I hate is being in transit. I don’t enjoy sitting in a car or bus for hours, and planes? The heights still make me nervous. I just want to arrive. If teleportation was an option every time I have to travel? I’d happily sign up for that but not that teleporting they do at your village. 😂 One minute the granny is in her hut, two minutes later she’s in the UK disturbing your sibling. Not that kind of teleportation o.

I do enjoy adventurous travel once I get there; it’s just the long journey that gets me. I think a lot of it comes from an accident I was in years ago. One of the things I’ve learned about transition seasons is that they often come just before the breakthrough. When a woman is in labour, she is in transition into motherhood. It is painful, uncomfortable, and often one of the most difficult assignments given to man yet she keeps pushing and pushing until the baby is fully delivered. That’s what transition looks like.

I always tell you guys about my sister Valerie when she was pregnant, right? Well, here’s a new story, new episode is now showing on YieldedTv lol . As she got closer to her due date, she’d often say, “The belly is heavy.” She would put her hand underneath it as if she was helping her body carry the weight. Her walk changed. Her body changed. Her weight changed. Her face changed… ehhhh. 😂 that one yhooo! It changed butttttt despite all of that, I would see her waking up early to check the baby’s clothes. She would fold them over and over again.

The child had not yet been born, yet she was preparing, even though her current condition was uncomfortable and heavy. I’m telling you this story to make this point akshually, your transition season will be uncomfortable, but it will still require you to prepare for what is coming. So you’re crying while preparing. You’re tired but still preparing. You want to give up but you’re still preparing. You feel like it’s all too much, but you’re still there, waiting. I’m sure that by the third trimester many pregnant women are already exhausted, yet they don’t tell the doctor, “I want to deliver today.” They understand there is an appointed time.

I believe it’s closer than you think. I know we’ve heard words like that so many times that sometimes we don’t even believe them anymore. Just think of it this way, when you’re on a plane, the pilot knows the route and often even shares the flight map with you. God, on the other hand, will most likely not show you the map, but He knows exactly how much longer you need to persevere. This reminds me of something that happened when I was in primary school. After school, we had to catch a bus home. We’d buy a ticket and then wait for a specific bus because it was the only one that used our route.

One day, something must have happened because from 1 p.m., when school ended, until 5 p.m., that bus never came. My sisters and I waited as we watched everyone else leave. We were so Bhod! We were hungry, and your sister here had anger issues. 😂 I got so frustrated that I tore my bus ticket in half, fully intending to chew the paper out of annoyance. I wanted to chew it thinking I’m spitting the bus company. The moment I was about to put it in my mouth… the bus pulled into the station. My sisters screamed and laughed. “We told you the bus would come! We will leave you here!” Ehhhh bazalwane.

By then, I had already convinced myself I was going to walk home. Mind you, I was a short, skinny, hungry primary school child. I was just a shildren. Home wasn’t impossibly far, but it definitely wasn’t close enough for that to be a sensible plan. I didn’t care anymore. I had made up my mind when I tore the ticket that l would walk. As everyone queued to board the bus, I stood there regretting the last five minutes of my life. My sisters were already waving at me , laughing so much. Thankfully, one of our friends cheated a little on my behalf, and by questionable means, I still managed to get onto the bus and get home. But you know what? Let’s continue this story tomorrow. For now, I’ll leave you to think about your own journey and whether it feels anything like mine did. Selah.
