Hey family! I have something to share that might just help you get closer to your goals or even achieve them altogether! So, back in January, I worked on a project and finished it in just a few days. I was like, āWhew, itās done!ā and decided to take a little break⦠which turned into weeks of resting. The project was done, yes but it wasnāt perfected. And still, I rested.
Now tell me, why did I do that?
So many times, we take a break simply because we feel like weāve accomplished something. But thatās not how God operates. When God created the world, He didnāt rest the moment He finished He looked over all He had done, evaluated it, and only then did He rest. And what did He say, believers? āIt is good.ā But there I was, resting⦠when the work was done, but it wasnāt good yet. So donāt rest just because itās done. Rest when itās good. When itās aligned with excellence. When it reflects the standard God has set in you.
Someone might say, āOh, but I rested because I was tired.ā Thatās acceptable rest is necessary! But letās be honest: you canāt take a week-long nap. You canāt wash the dishes and then rest for six hours. Your rest should match the measure of the work you actually put in. Otherwise, weāre not really resting weāre just basking in laziness. And trust me, itās only a matter of time before a spirit takes over or takes advantage of that open door.
Back to my story so I eventually realised, āWait a minute⦠this project was supposed to be perfected by now.ā I found someone to help me bring it to completion, and guess what, bazalwane? I rested again! Only for me to look at the project yesterday, and in just two hours, I completed everything that still needed to be done. Two hours! What I couldāve done in two focused hours dragged and dragged! Please donāt ask me how long it took me in total, I wonāt even answer you. Iām shy!
Now think about this, if I had just done the work in January, I wouldāve had three full months of good profit by now. Three months! Thatās three months that couldāve changed my life. But because I chose to rest when I shouldāve been putting in the final touches, I lost that time and opportunity.
Iām writing to you, church in the Yielded City LOL do not take unnecessary naps! Donāt scroll away your destiny. Donāt postpone a task just to get on a call and chit-chat about nothing. Ask me. Ask sis Dolly. I had to learn this the hard way, and I said noooooo l canāt keep this lesson to myself I must share it with you guys!
Start by getting a to-do diary. Write down your tasks. Allocate time to them and then actually stick to those times. Iāve even gone as far as scheduling when I write for Yielded, and when I must be done. Thatās how discipline is built. Not overnight, but step by step. And by Godās grace, Iām committing to keep showing up.Letās stop resting from what isnāt finished.
Finish the task. You sweep for two minutes, then park the broom and say, āAh, let me just check TikTok real quick.ā Next thing? Youāre resting for two hours. It seems small, right? But those are the little foxes those tiny decisions that keep us stuck in delay. Sometimes, delay isnāt spiritual warfare, itās personal choice. A decision we make every day.
Spirits take advantage of our routines . We push todayās project to next week, and weāre trying to wrap up 2024 assignments in 2025. Whoās the problem here? Itās not the devil. Itās not your boss. Itās you and me. So yes, rest if you must, my dhiye, but understand: time is not waiting for you to finally feel ready. Itās been moving. Itās beeeeeen time, even if your feelings havenāt caught up. Even if youāre sleepy after just reading one chapter of the Bible. You say āAh Iāve read shame!ā After reading John 11:35 the shortest verse! Laziness.
Ask yourself, what exactly have you done today that deserves that kind of nap? As for me? Oh, Iāve changed, o! Best believe Iām fixing this, on purpose. Iāll give you an update soon, and trust me, itās going to show. Iām being intentional about this now. Let me stop typing, time is up!
