Why are you resting?

Hey family! I have something to share that might just help you get closer to your goals or even achieve them altogether! So, back in January, I worked on a project and finished it in just a few days. I was like, “Whew, it’s done!” and decided to take a little break… which turned into weeks of resting. The project was done, yes but it wasn’t perfected. And still, I rested.

Now tell me, why did I do that?

So many times, we take a break simply because we feel like we’ve accomplished something. But that’s not how God operates. When God created the world, He didn’t rest the moment He finished He looked over all He had done, evaluated it, and only then did He rest. And what did He say, believers? “It is good.” But there I was, resting… when the work was done, but it wasn’t good yet. So don’t rest just because it’s done. Rest when it’s good. When it’s aligned with excellence. When it reflects the standard God has set in you.

Someone might say, “Oh, but I rested because I was tired.” That’s acceptable rest is necessary! But let’s be honest: you can’t take a week-long nap. You can’t wash the dishes and then rest for six hours. Your rest should match the measure of the work you actually put in. Otherwise, we’re not really resting we’re just basking in laziness. And trust me, it’s only a matter of time before a spirit takes over or takes advantage of that open door.

Back to my story so I eventually realised, “Wait a minute… this project was supposed to be perfected by now.” I found someone to help me bring it to completion, and guess what, bazalwane? I rested again! Only for me to look at the project yesterday, and in just two hours, I completed everything that still needed to be done. Two hours! What I could’ve done in two focused hours dragged and dragged! Please don’t ask me how long it took me in total, I won’t even answer you. I’m shy!

Now think about this, if I had just done the work in January, I would’ve had three full months of good profit by now. Three months! That’s three months that could’ve changed my life. But because I chose to rest when I should’ve been putting in the final touches, I lost that time and opportunity.

I’m writing to you, church in the Yielded City LOL do not take unnecessary naps! Don’t scroll away your destiny. Don’t postpone a task just to get on a call and chit-chat about nothing. Ask me. Ask sis Dolly. I had to learn this the hard way, and I said noooooo l can’t keep this lesson to myself I must share it with you guys!

Start by getting a to-do diary. Write down your tasks. Allocate time to them and then actually stick to those times. I’ve even gone as far as scheduling when I write for Yielded, and when I must be done. That’s how discipline is built. Not overnight, but step by step. And by God’s grace, I’m committing to keep showing up.Let’s stop resting from what isn’t finished.

Finish the task. You sweep for two minutes, then park the broom and say, “Ah, let me just check TikTok real quick.” Next thing? You’re resting for two hours. It seems small, right? But those are the little foxes those tiny decisions that keep us stuck in delay. Sometimes, delay isn’t spiritual warfare, it’s personal choice. A decision we make every day.

Spirits take advantage of our routines . We push today’s project to next week, and we’re trying to wrap up 2024 assignments in 2025. Who’s the problem here? It’s not the devil. It’s not your boss. It’s you and me. So yes, rest if you must, my dhiye, but understand: time is not waiting for you to finally feel ready. It’s been moving. It’s beeeeeen time, even if your feelings haven’t caught up. Even if you’re sleepy after just reading one chapter of the Bible. You say “Ah I’ve read shame!” After reading John 11:35 the shortest verse! Laziness.

Ask yourself, what exactly have you done today that deserves that kind of nap? As for me? Oh, I’ve changed, o! Best believe I’m fixing this, on purpose. I’ll give you an update soon, and trust me, it’s going to show. I’m being intentional about this now. Let me stop typing, time is up!
