Our different destinations

Yesterday I told you the story of how I almost ended up walking home after irritation & boredom took over me. In a moment of frustration, I tore my bus ticket and nearly chewed it too! I had serious plans to chew it vele. So there I was, standing with a torn ticket while everyone, including my own sisters, was queuing to board the bus.The conductor was checking every ticket before letting people on, and after checking each one, he would tear it. The problem? Your sister had already done the conductor’s job! Aiiii

Obviously, no one in their right mind would tear an unused ticket, so it would’ve looked like I was trying to use an old ticket from a previous trip. I was in hot soup with extra hot Indian pepper! Thankfully, my sister’s friend stepped in. She told the conductor she had already given him ā€œherā€ ticket and that he had torn it, while actually showing him mine. All the while, she had quietly slipped her own ticket into my hand so I could board the bus. She handled that situation well for a Grade 6 lol. She was my hero that day. It was wrong but that day It felt so right. I mean we had paid for tickets.

I’m afraid many of us have done something similar in life’s journey. You waited too long and trashed the prophetic word. You waited too long for the man, and somewhere along the way you threw away your good character and your morals, only to be left with something no longer worthy of being called ā€œmore precious than rubies.ā€ You are now proverbs 32 woman. Btw there’s no proverbs 32 in the bible. This is to say, your chapter doesn’t exist anymore because you tore the ticket.

You were left holding a torn ticket when all you needed to do was wait a few more minutes. Did I tell you that if I had waited just five more minutes just five, the bus would have arrived? It was probably just around the corner when I tore my ticket. I think a ticket can symbolise our faith. Maybe it’s a prophetic word. Maybe it’s a promise. Maybe it’s a vision. Without that ticket, you cannot get on the bus. In fact, the bus is for ticket holders only. I’m saying to you today yielded people, whatever God has placed in your hands and told you to steward while you wait for the manifestation of His promise must not be torn, must not be lost, and certainly must not be chewed. Don’t even think about chewing that ticket, my friend!

A ticket cannot be borrowed. Imagine you’re flying to Germany at 10 a.m. and you meet someone at the airport whose flight to Germany is only in five hours. You can’t say, ā€œPlease lend me your ticket. I’ll use it and give it back.ā€ It doesn’t work like that. Unlike that bus ticket, the journey of life doesn’t allow us to borrow what was meant for someone else. We cannot borrow one another’s oil. It’s also important for us to understand that In seasons of transition, we are all travelling to different destinations. I think if we truly understood this, we wouldn’t spend so much time envying one another or competing with each other.

The bus station we were at had many buses. One by one, they arrived and collected their people home. I couldn’t board just any bus simply because it arrived first, it wasn’t going my way, and I would’ve ended up lost. In the same way, we are all travelling to different places, and we will arrive at different times. So stay where God has placed you and wait for your bus. Wait for your turn. Wait for your season. The right bus will match the code on your ticket , and when your appointed time comes, it will not leave without you.

Habakkuk 2:3 KJV

ā€œFor the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.ā€

Because of our different destinations, some will travel by bus, some by plane, some by ship, and some by their granny’s broom… lol. ā€œI’m kidneying!ā€ You may be tempted to throw away your ticket because you think you’ll just walk instead. Dear Sir or madam, based on a true story, that is a terrible idea. In the same way, throwing away your faith because you’re tired of waiting and choosing to trust that you know ā€œbetterā€ than God will leave you stranded. You’ll grow weary, expose yourself to unnecessary dangers, and encounter battles you could have avoided had you remained in the bus station.

We may all be heading to different destinations, but here’s what we have in common, we’re all going somewhere. Some are just waiting to connect flights. Some are on air. Some just boarded. Some ā€œjust arrived.ā€ Every one of us is in one transition or another. There comes a point in life where we can’t tag team or simply tag along with someone else’s journey. We have to be at peace with God leading each of us in different directions and at different times. My darling, keep your ticket. The bus is just around the corner. If you don’t have a friend like my sister’s friend to rescue you from a careless mistake, you might miss your bus altogether, so don’t make any silly decisions right now.

Don’t just date anyone. Don’t sleep around. Don’t find yourself doing thoughtless things simply because you’ve grown tired of waiting. Don’t chew your holiness through sinful living. Don’t lose your hope. Don’t leave the bus station. Don’t leave church. Don’t walk when God has made provision for you to be carried by bus. You’ll need that ticket to reach your destination. So… what is your ticket? Do you still have it? I know you’re tired of waiting for your bus but think of my story and consider, the moment you give up could’ve be the moment the bus arrives. See you tomorrow.
